The time I learned, and what I learned, were from the times I failed.  There were two times, where I have changed because of those failures.  The two times happened quite recently.   Some of my fails are from sports, and some are from just time management.  From both of these, I learned something, that is still relevant to me today.  Although not everything that I learned were from mistakes, the two that I am going to talk about, are the biggest.  The two failures that I had, both changed my way of thinking in different ways.  I will take you through a magical journey that lead me to a better person.

When I was in eighth grade, I was in the school basketball team.  But I wasn’t any ordinary player on the team, I was the team captain.  Yes, that means I am the person in charge.  Our team at the time was first place in the league.  Our team had very high hopes on winning the tournament, so with this high hope we had, we lost the tournament.  I don’t exactly know why we lost, but the reason was probably because of the high hopes we had, we didn’t play to our full potential.  Me and my team were very upset over this loss.  I was the most upset, because I had full responsibility over the loss.  We were in a disastrous state.  From being the number one team, to going back home with nothing in hand.  All the chances we had.  Gone.

There was once another time, but it was a different kind of failure.  This time, it was just myself.  Myself, and a piano.  There was a piano recital I had to perform in.  Of course, me not knowing to use my time wisely, I slacked off the practicing.  Not the best decision to make during that time.  I practiced several hours on the day of the performance.  The time came.  I set my hands on the white keys of the piano.  I finished, but, it wasn’t the greatest.  Because I learned everything on that day.  But my performance wasn’t the greatest.  The audience knew that I wasn’t prepared.  The sound quality, the rhythm, was all terrible.

Next time i'm in a basketball game, I know what to expect.  Next time I set my hands on the whites keys of a piano, I will be sure to be ready.  I’m sure that the same situation will happen again.  But when it does, I will be prepared.  I will be.  From now on, the moment similar situations happen, I will be prepared to deal with.

Failures can be a life changer, especially in the two situations I was put into.  Whether it being with others, or alone.  There are these times that may occur again, maybe for the same reason, or a different reason.  The only way that this will happen, is if I start slacking off again.  But other than that, I am sure to keep what I learned, till I am out of this world.
